I'm Pretty Sure...

My mom has two of the coolest bosses EVER.

What they did today was probably one of the most thoughtful things I've ever heard of a boss doing for one of their employees.

THANK YOU RITA AND ROGER, WE'RE ALL VERY APPRECIATIVE!!

I Forgot

The one cool thing about yesterday? My new plates came in the mail. Sweet! (Like Chad's VW shirt in the background?)

Oh and on a side note, I had a much better day today. Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and support. Brynn has no idea how loved she is.

What A Day

So, today started out ok... and then I got to work and everything started going wrong. It was just a weird day at work.

Let's backtrack a little bit. Tuesday, I got an automated voicemail from Brynn's eye doctor's office confirming her appointment for this afternoon at 4:00 at the Scottsdale office. THE OFFICE IN SCOTTSDALE IS AN HOUR COMPLETELY OUT OF OUR WAY. I couldn't reschedule her appointment because I had already told my bosses that I had to leave early today AND Chad had pretty much the whole afternoon off for an appointment for himself and her appointment. I called their offices yesterday to find out exactly where this Scottsdale office was and to give them an earful of bitchy Amanda. They told me that Brynn's appoinment was actually at 4:10 instead of 4:00 and I was ok, whatever, I just wrote it down wrong before. I planned to leave work at 3:30 this afternoon to give me enough time to get up there and it was such a crazy day, I didn't end up getting out of there until almost 3:45. So, I was completely frustrated, called Chad and found out he was stuck in traffic. He thought he was going to be about 5-10 minutes late to Brynn's 4:10 appointment, so I called the office to let them know and they said "Oh, her appointment is at 4:00, not 4:10 and if you're going to get here any later than 4:10, we'll have to cancel the appointment and reschedule."

I LOST IT.

They screwed up the appointment location AND the time of the freaking appointment and can't hold her appointment because he's stuck in traffic?! I hung up, called Chad back and was bawling (I was actually bawling on the phone with the freaking office girl).

OH AND in the meantime, one of the vendors that I faxed an order to right before I left didn't get page 2 of the fax. THE PAGE WITH THE ORDER ON IT THAT HAS TO DELIVER TOMORROW. So, I pulled off on to a side road and didn't know what to do. I was going to go back to work but then decided to call my boss and ask him to refax it for me. Yeah, that makes me look really good, doesn't it? Atleast I was smart enough to give the vendor my cell phone number in case they had problems. I then headed home. There was no way that I was going to make it to the appointment, it was 40 minutes away and at this point, I had 5 minutes to get there.

Ok, so back to Chad. When he got off on the exit that he needed to, he called the dr's office to tell them where he was and he needed to know exactly how to get there. SHE GAVE HIM THE ADDRESS. At this point, he pulled out the attitude that he learned from me and was like "LOOK. YOU TOLD MY WIFE THAT IF I WAS 10 MINUTES LATE, WE HAD TO RESCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT. THE APPOINTMENT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AT THE HIGLEY OFFICE AND THE GIRL AT THE FRONT DESK AT THEIR OFFICE SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT FOR SCOTTSDALE. THIS IS AN HOUR OUT OF MY WAY AND WE ARE NOT RESCHEDULING. I JUST GOT OFF AT THE EXIT THAT I NEEDED TO, SO YOU TELL ME EXACTLY WHERE TO GO FROM HERE." So, she did.

The Dr. Salevitz apologized to Chad as soon as he walked in the door and Chad said "You have no idea how lucky you are that my wife wasn't here". Dr. Salevitz said "I know" in a really quiet voice. Seriously, he has no idea what kind of day I've had.

Anyway, Brynn needs another surgery.

On April 1, 2008, when she was 8 months old, she had her first surgery because her eyes were crossed really bad. You could really tell that she was having problems focusing and trying to grab things. Pretty much right after the surgery, her attitude completely changed and she was sooo much happier. She started learning things a lot faster after the surgery too. (Go to our old blog to read about the first surgery.)

Now, her eyes "wander" when she's sleepy. Dr. Salevitz told Chad that when Brynn looks to the left, her left eye will go to the left and her right eye will go up. When she looks to the right, her right eye will look to the right and her left eye will go up. (One of them will actually wander up and in too.)

She's really smart though, if you tell her to "fix her eyes", she'll blink and she is able to focus again. You wouldn't even be able to tell that her eyes crossed a few seconds before.

So, right now her second surgery is scheduled for April 14th. Chad is supposed to be going to training in North Carolina for a week or so sometime in April, so we may need to change the date of her surgery so that he is here for it. I'll keep you posted.

I know most of this post wasn't a big deal to anyone who was reading it but seriously, you have no idea how stressed out I've been today. Oh and once I calmed down at home, I checked our lottery numbers for last night and didn't have any. Dang.

Phx Zoo!!

On Saturday, Chad, Mom and I took Brynn on her first trip to the zoo. She had a lot of fun and we knew she would because she loves animals!! We were only there for about two hours but it was just enough time for us. She liked the baboons, elephants (she pronounces them as "el-eeee-fun-tees") and the pigeons the best!! I think it will be neat to go every year.

Here are some pictures from our fun afternoon at the zoo:

Gasses

Brynn wearing Mommy's "gasses". She just can't seem to get those L's down yet. Oh and Allie's new name is "Addie".

Ice Cream Cake

I had a brilliant idea for my mom's birthday. In Ohio, Dairy Queen is closed for the winter. I thought it would be really cool to get her a DQ birthday cake, since she's never had one for her birthday before.

Well, the night of her birthday, we took her to Logan's Roadhouse (YUM!) and we were too full for cake when we got back. They embarrased her at the restaurant and brought her a desert, so we didn't need the cake that night anyway.

Tuesday, Chad made his yummy quesadillas for dinner and then I went out to the freezer in the garage to get the cake. I opened the freezer door and the cake looked funny. Apparently when I put the cake in there, the door didn't shut the whole way and when I pulled the cake out, it was mostly melted except for about a 7" circle in the middle. We opened up the cake, scraped away the melted part and each had a few bites of what was left. UGH.

Oh and it looks like the girl wrote "Happy Birthday GNammie" instead of Grammie. ;o)

It was a nice thought... and I think we all got a good laugh out of it!!

Where Do I Start?

The last week and a half has been weird. Completely out of the norm.

Brynn got really sick and Chad and I stayed home with her for three days. The next day, my mom flew in from Ohio!! While she was here, we did some pretty fun things which I'll blog about over the next day or so. I was sick (and still am) pretty much the whole time my mom was here, I went to the doctor and found out that I have bronchitis.

Here are some pictures from the first day that mom was here. Brynn and I took her to a pottery place so that she and Brynn could paint something as my mom's birthday present. Mom picked out a mug and let Brynn "paint" and then we added a black hand print to it and Brynn's initials on the bottom. It turned out SUPER CUTE!! I didn't take "after" pictures but here's the work in progress:

Cabin Fever

On Thursday, we went outside so Brynn could play in her log cabin and enjoy the perfect weather. I love the fact that you wouldn't even realize that she only had her PJ top and diaper on, if I didn't tell you.

It's Hard To Stay Positive

When you get pulled into a conference room with 20 co-workers and you are all told that you are getting a 5% pay cut.

Let me remind you... I left another job to go to this one. At this point, I'm kind of asking myself why the hell I did it.

What has happened at the new job since I started at the end of October?

* Two weeks off, unpaid, at the end of December
* No bonuses this year
* 5% pay cut today

I know I'm still lucky to have a job and it could be a whole lot worse, but this just sucks.

Oh and we still haven't won the lottery. Grrr...

One Sick Chick...

... with a stick!!

Brynn and I have been at home for the last two days, she's had the worst cold that she's ever had. We're headed to the doctor in a little while actually.

Yesterday, I was going through some of her clothes and she decided to get into her closet and pull out her lacrosse sticks!! She calls them "steeks" and they're as tall as she is now!!! She likes to ride them around like they're horses.

Another WalMart Story

I forgot to mention that I got ran over by a guy in one of those electric carts at WalMart yesterday. He had dropped something and backed up to pick it up and didn't realize that I was standing behind him. I was turned around and didn't see him coming, now the back of my ankles are all swollen and a little bruised. It hurt like you wouldn't believe!! UGH.

Learning Toys?

Does anyone have any learning toys for kiddos Brynn's age that they recommend?

Bear!

I can't believe I completely forgot to post this last night. I even forgot to tell Chad about it until tonight at dinner.

Yesterday after work, I picked up Brynn and we stopped by our bank in WalMart. When we left, Brynn started saying "bear, bear" and I was like what the heck are you talking about?! She stopped for a few seconds and then started saying "bear, bear" again. I asked her where the bear was and she pointed to A KID WITH AN AFRO!!!!

Atleast he couldn't hear her...

Yummy Restaurant

If you live in or around Mesa, you HAVE TO TRY LOGAN'S ROADHOUSE. We went there for the first time a few nights ago and it was AWESOME AND CHEAP (for a steakhouse). They have a deal where you can get two full meals for $13.99 Monday through Wednesday and their steak is SO GOOD!! Chad and I each got the 6oz sirloin. YUM!!

Nice Try

Cards... Nice try.

We had a pretty fun weekend and I got absolutely nothing done around the house. Friday night we made signs for the garage sale. Yesterday morning we got up way too early for the garage sale (and someone commented that we had great signs!). Yesterday afternoon, we had a big family barbeque thing with Chad's car club. Brynn had a lot of fun in one of those blow up bouncy things. Then today, we went to a Superbowl party with some friends that we haven't seen since Brynn's shower!!

It's going to be a busy week, we need to get the house cleaned up - MY MOM IS COMING TO VISIT ON SATURDAY!!!
